I have meant to make a post ALL WEEK but it kept slipping my mind. Last week when I posted I totally forgot to include the photos from the Padme Lake dress shoot! So ever since I kept meaning to come back and post them but here we are… over a week later. But I do actually have more content now to post than just the Padme photos.
Let’s start with house stuff.
We hung some lights up on our patio. It’s very cozy!
I also spent one rainy evening on the big chair on the patio with Luna.
Haven’t felt great this week. Big storms early in the week set off a migraine which I still have today. Annoying.
Made some progress on the Lord of the Rings bathroom. I got my new medicine cabinet in and Chase got it assembled Wednesday night! Only thing is I want a different knob on the door, so going to get one this weekend. And we’ll hang it up this weekend too, so I’ll have a pic next week.
I also picked out a new shower curtain and bath mat…. happy with the bathmat but the shower curtain…
It’s too long, which is fixable, but it’s also not wide enough. I’ve got it pulled all the way over to the right just for the photo and that left about a foot long gap on the other side. I’m pretty disappointed because I really like it otherwise. And it’s my own fault for not measuring it. I just assumed all tubs and thus shower curtains were pretty standard but now that I’m saying that I know it’s not true LOL.
I think I’m either going to order another one exactly the same and just hang them both up, staggering them a bit so it gets full closure, or order a navy blue one that’s wide enough and just hang it directly behind it. Depends on if there’s another one of this one available.
Also got my new light for the main part of the bathroom, putting that up this weekend too!!
Then it’ll just be shelves and trim.
Also, we took down ALL the towel racks prior to painting. Do you know how many towel racks this one little bathroom had in it? THREE. Why did we need 3 towel racks?? The funny thing is the other night I realized that we missed one. It’s the one IN the shower. So there were actually FOUR. I put up some little hooks to use for the towels and it makes the towels look like Yip Yips from Sesame Street.
Sewing! I actually got back into a little bit of a groove this week. Last week I did make some progress on ceremonial Leia:
Pretty happy with it so far, I put the brakes on while waiting on new fabric, and that arrived on Tuesday. So this weekend I’ll get the rest of the skirt pieces cut.
While waiting on that fabric I switched over to working on Jean’s TNG skant again.
Thankfully it started coming together very quickly after we decided to skip the built-in underwear and the front zippers.
Last night I finished getting the front and back attached at the shoulders (took a bit to get the seams matching), and sewed the sides closed.
The back seam is still wide open, I want her to try it on before I even think about installing the zipper. Speaking of which, I ordered the invisible zipper for this last weekend. Was supposed to be in stock and ship 6/10 to arrive today 6/12. Checked last night and it still hadn’t shipped so I tried canceling the order, which has never worked for me before… and it actually worked. Which means I have to brave the stores to find a zipper this weekend.

And… literally while I was in the middle of writing this post, I got a Dragoncon update.
For the first time in 18 years I won’t be at Dragoncon this year. I feel… pretty crushed, honestly. This would have been #19. I’m still hoping they cancel so I don’t “miss” it. But, the whole reason we were able to make the call today is because I got confirmation from the Marriott that they moved our deposit to 2021. That was my one hold out was that I didn’t want to “lose” our room and have to go through the Hunger Games again. So I feel relieved that that is taken care of. But also incredibly sad.
I’m so tired of all this.
Anyway, I need to get my site updated… I still need to add Blue Glitter Leia, Padme nightgown, and Dapper Day Dale to my costume page, and get their construction written up before I forget all of it. I hope to get that done next week.
Also, I know I don’t really talk about real life stuff in my blog but I think I should make it clear that Black Lives Matter, Trans rights are Human rights, and I support all people have equal rights to live their best life. This isn’t rocket science. Just be nice to people.
